2008 FPRA NATIONAL CONVENTION IN

LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO JUNE 4 - 7, 2008

The Rio Grande Chapter is pleased to host the 2008 FPRA National Convention in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The convention hotel is the Hotel Encanto. The room rate is $91.00 per night plus tax. Call 575-522-4300 or toll free 866-383-0443 to make your reservations. You must identify yourself as a participant of the Federal Prison Retirees Convention to receive the special room rate. RENTAL CAR INFORMATION

Airlines:
Fly into the El Paso International Airport in El Paso, Texas. All major car rental companies service the airport. The distance from the airport to the El Encanto Hotel is 54 miles. Las Cruces Shuttle, 1-800-288-1784 or 575-525-1784, The Rio Grande Chapter will also assist in providing transportation information. If you request such, please contact Jack or Berta Lockhart at: 575-521-1825 before June 1, 2008.

Restaurants:
There are restaurants within walking distance of the El Encanto Hotel. Also, if you have your own transportation, you will enjoy the various restaurants available in the city.

Convention activities:
Activities include a welcome reception at the El Encanto Hotel with mariachi music and cash bar; a tour of FCI La Tuna; walking the beautiful and historical Old Mesilla Plaza gift shops; lunch at the any of the restaurants within walking distance of the Plaza; golf tournament at the Sonoma Ranch Golf Course,  with lots of great prizes and lunch included; and, the traditional Friday evening banquet in the beautiful courtyard of the New Mexico Farm
& Ranch Museum. The views of the mountains are gorgeous and a spectacular sunset. A delicious chuck wagon dinner will be served. You will enjoy the banquet's cowboy theme and cowboy music. We are extremely pleased to know the Director, Harley Lappin, will attend. The traditional Saturday morning business meeting, with breakfast buffet, will be held at the hotel, and it is open to all.
